Finished!

So I finally finished this! My blog diary of Australian trip. Now I can start blogging about something else. What would that be though?

Anyone reading this yet?

Frankfurt, the last post from the trip

the sixteenth of the fifth
the last one

Because of our flight 'change' we arrived in Frankfurt at 6 am. The next flight from Franfurt to Budapest was scheduled for 8pm.
10 hours in Frankfurt then.

 Bit Austrian. Lovely city centre.

And the market again. Wonderful pastries. We've actually met a Slovak girl working in a restaurant where we went for lunch, so we ordered our food in Slovak, had a bit of a conversation.

Finally, we go home. Or some of us got to, not me. Had to get back to uni, take the three tests I missed due to missing our flight. Not so pleasant.

Anyways, I absolutely loved the trip. Saw so many places, met so many people and patted lots of animals!
Was all worth it.

Bye Bye Aussie, back in Melbourne

the fifteenth of the fifth

When I said hope to see you soon Melbourne, I didn't necessarily mean 5 days later. We missed a flight! And not just a flight. International Melbourne to Frankfurt flight. It actually wasn't our fault, but thats a bit of a long story, so I'm just gonna keep it simple and say we missed it and got stuck in Melbourne for the day. Saturday night Chinese Town night. Sunday morning Queen Victoria Market, here we come.... again.

In love with this little shop
Lovely goods!

Soaps and nice smelling things

Fresh market fish!
I do realise that fish stall is probably not an appropriate way how to end the Australian trip. But so be it.
This was an amazing trip and I am thousand times thankful I had the opportunity to see a little of Australia. Where next?

Ulverstone

the thirteenth of the fifth

Lots of fish in an antique shop! Tenner each!
I dont have much to say about this town. Maybe just that I really wish it would have been summer! I missed swimming in the sea.

On an island
No more island

The makers of Burnie

the eleventh of the fifth

We went on a trip to Burnie,  the pulp town. There is this building with make your own paper workshops and sweet caffe and souvenir shop plus the makers. People having stalls inside making and selling their stuff. Not many were present when we went, but you could imagine how lovely it would be to see it full.

Never mind the lid.
The making of! Looks like a difficult process but it's really not. You can make your own paper at home. Just need an old blender, cotton, old paper and water. And that wooden thing he's holding. Mix the water with the cotton, old paper, kangaroo poo (yes they really did use that!) but I don't remember the percentage. Just make it thick enought to make a paper. I believe this is very helpful.

I think you'd be better of just scrolling through the pictures.

Done! Just let it dry for 24 hours now.

My prom dress
Fresh flowers every day
Wouldn't mind a chandelier like that.

Trowunna Wildlife

the tenth of the fifth

We went to see little wombies, yay! And not just see them, we got to hold them! They are supercute. Especially Magie, the six month old, very heavy wombat in the second picture. This one right below grew up with dogs, so now he thinks she's a dog. She'd stand up on her back legs and lean towards your legs like dogs do. Except for she's got much more power and causes you to loose your balance sometimes.

Meet Maggie.

And on we go to pat the devils. Their teeth can actually break your bone. This one is a puppy, used to people.

Lots of Kangaroos here too

The devils feeding
This wildlife park has a program - they're trying to make disease-free population of the devils. They often suffer from a face tumor, which doesn't look good and when developped it causes them to starve to death as they cannot hunt. So Trowunna is picking the best genetic material and having experts take care of the population. They have to do this unless they want Tasmanian devil to disappear as Tasmanian tiger did. These 8 guys will stay in captivity for the rest of their life. They first have to see if they survive with no tumor and it may take several generations. Then they will let some out.
Luckily, it's not the whole Tasmanian population with the cancer gene. There's one part of Tassie where it hasn't been not found yet. In other part, some of the devils developped natural antidote. So things are looking good.

Deloraine

the ninth of the fifth

Finally in Tassie! First day of the conference me and my mum went to some cultural stuff, caved out. We ended up shopping in Deloraine. We took a bus there and after we've come back the cavers asked how we had got there and we said - by bus, they were very surprised! No one takes the bus in Tassie. Well it is true that Ulverstone (where we were staying) and Deloraine are only 30 km apart and the bus took over an hour... but still cheaper than to rent a car. Especially when there's no place renting cars than the nearest airport, Launceston.

Deloraine is a port town. They're known for their poppy fields. Poppy grows throughout the whole of Tasmania.

We walked on the coast and walked up the hill, just to get to this aboriginal museum. So of course it was closed. Who else would be this lucky. Couldn't even take the tiniest peak through the windows.

But as we were up the hill we thought we may as well go see the lighthouse. Luckily it was a nice sunny day.

Front of the house

This picture is back in Ulverstone, on the way to the bus stop. What a lovely house!
